My Dark Tunnel 2

The next few of my life I dwelt in the land of the dead though I existed in the body of the living. All that went through my mind was trying to get answers to my questions of WHO, HOW and WHERE the rape came about. I dwelt in this dark cloud only hoping for a rain of answers.
Dad couldn’t help himself as his prayers could be read from his eyes. He couldn’t wait for his precious child to be back on her feet again. And my wish was if only this cup could pass me by.

Finally I was home and insanity wasn’t far away as the only picture I could see was the rape of which I couldn’t explain how it happened yet. How then do I go about my life, my future that was on the palms of my hands seemed to have flied off like a dove set free from its cage or may be sinking in my very presence like the titanic knowing fully well I needed a savior who could just help me with answers to my questions.

Worry suffocated the airways in the house as happiness to mum and dad turned to have gone on exile. On this faithful day, while I was in my regular position in the sitting room, Dad picked up his car key and went out. To where? No one knew but definitely no work as his whole focus was on his daughter’s wellbeing. After a while, he came in with two men who seemed to appear as though they were on a special mission. “These are men from the Central Intelligent Division, they are here to get to the root of this matter" Yes!! For the first time I had a drift to a mixture of happiness and bitterness.

He handed me over to them and watched from a distance as questions were asking from different angles, some I couldn’t and some I could. What was the last encounter you had? They asked as I stared directly into the eyes of one of the men, trying to open my mouth to speak as though I was drunk I commenced “It was on the 12th of May 2015 after a very busy and hectic day in class, I and my friends went to have lunch as it has been our routine once every week, during the lunch, we discussed on how we will meet that evening for our group discussions, at the end of the meal we all went our separate ways to rest. At about five minutes from home I felt very weak and dizzy so I managed to get myself home. I couldn’t even remember greeting my neighbors as that I needed was sleep. I managed to get my key as I opened the door, slammed and locked myself inside before dicing into my bed. Only to find myself waking up on a hospital bed. I don’t know exactly how it happened were the words I said as I busted in tears.

Then how did you get to the hospital?  Shook my head in response to indicate my unawareness of that. They asked Dad and he responded saying a set of people brought her and they seem to be her friends. It was as though they came to complicate the matter more in my head. How can a door supposed locked become open?

My friends were summoned to give an explanation on what happened. I became more interested as I listened carefully to see if the cure to my insanity could be found in their words. They narrated how we went for lunch but Amanda added that they got to class that evening but I didn’t show up so they tried calling me of which calls weren’t answered so they came over to my place only to find me half dead before they rushed  to the hospital.

It turned to become the deeper they went into the matter the more confused I get. If the rape was then in my room, who could have done this to me, how the hell did He get into my room and what exactly have I done to deserve this? “It must have been that she was drugged, we need to get to the restaurant where she ate” they said…..

To be continued next week Tuesday…

We have been witnessing cleaning exercises but this one got a different grading. Heroes Nation Social Change Ambassadors did a very wonderful sanitation exercises at Ipata Market, Ilorin, Kwara State. Where the SDGs (Goals 3, 6 & 13) were the Focus of the Sanitation and Sensitization today. The exercise commenced at 7am with the presence of the Nigerian Red Cross Ilorin Chapter, Corp members of sanitation and environment CDS, Kwara State ministry of environment and some volunteers who heard about the project from friends and social media publicity. While the sanitation exercise was going on, a group of heroes nation ambassadors took time in sensitizing the buyer and sellers present at the market on the benefit of staying dirt free using different Nigerian languages, this created a bond between the heroes nations representatives and the Ipata Marketers. This activity revealed some of the heart cries of some of the marketers who marveled at the energetic, cheerful and interactive ...

Life Expectations.

Life is all about challenges, obstacles and hurdles towards achieving the great height of success. Our reaction to these present the person we really are. Expectations in life is a very critical issue but so many of us sees it as a norm.  Like everyone should have what they are expectant of! Dont get it twisted, when I mean expectation, I am referring to giving and receiving. Sometimes ago, a friend of mine was critically ill but all glory to God he struggled to recovery stage, at the point of recovery, he picked up his mobile and started listing out names of friends to eliminate from his life. Why? Some even go as far as saying; "Its God that allowed me know the kinda person you are" cos they at some point don't meet up to your intents. I really don't blame him, he expected so much from his friends with the thought that he once rendered one assistance or the other to them at some point which in turn make them indebted to him. My de...
